About OceanCare

Our mission: healthy living oceans

OceanCare has been working to protect marine life since 1989. The international marine conservation organisation, based in Switzerland, holds Special Consultative Status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations (UN ECOSOC) and contributes to the achievement of Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development and its 17 Sustainable Development Goals.

With our passion, in-depth expertise and great perseverance, we are dedicated to creating a healthy living marine environment worldwide. The world’s oceans are the basis of life on the blue planet. We must succeed in conserving these important living environments.

Whatever concerns us all, can only be solved together. That is why we work closely with leading scientists and partner organisations around the world. We combine our strengths, use synergies where we can and convince decision-makers with our arguments validated by science.

Mission statement

OceanCare pursues ambitious goals. We are committed to improving the situation for marine life in a visionary and passionate way, based on open dialogue.

By dividing the...

COP27: a missed opportunity also for the Mediterranean basin.

As we had feared, the recently concluded COP27 has been a climate summit hijacked by the oil and gas companies in such a way that no progress has been made on commitments to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Despite the growing seriousness of the climate emergency, the text drafted by the...
