Networks and partners

At its core, OceanCare is a lean and agile organisation. We optimise our effectiveness through close cooperation with international networks.

We also maintain long-standing contacts with over forty partner organisations around the globe, with which we share synergies to jointly achieve strategic goals in marine conservation. 

NEtWORKS

Since 2014, OceanCare has been part of this Spanish alliance whose goal is to stop the exploration and exploitation of oil and gas in the Mediterranean Sea.

Founded in 2017, the APPOLL Forum networks organisations – including OceanCare – are tackling plastic pollution in Switzerland.

Since 2018, OceanCare has been a member of this network, which campaigns to secure better living conditions for pets and wildlife in captivity.

Since 2014, OceanCare has been part of this campaign driven by 100 international organisations to ban microplastics from cosmetic products.

Since 2016, OceanCare has been part of this coalition of around 2,500 organisations working to reduce plastic pollution, and became a core member 2019.

Since 2021, OceanCare has been part of the coalition working to protect deep-sea ecosystems and address the threat of deep-sea mining.

OceanCare is a joint initiator of this coalition founded in 2013, which campaigns for an end to dolphin captivity in Europe.

In 2019 OceanCare joined the GGGI and is committed to curbing the threat posed by lost fishing gear in the sea.

Since 2008, OceanCare has been advocating for a legally binding instrument to protect the high seas, and in 2011 became a member of the High Seas Alliance.

In 2003, OceanCare co-founded this international coalition against underwater noise, which unites over 150 organisations under its umbrella.

Since 2017, OceanCare has been a partner in the coalition led by Dr Sylvia Earle, whose goal is that 30% of the ocean be marine protected areas by 2030.

In 2016, OceanCare became a member of this campaign to end water pollution caused by plastic fibres from synthetic clothing.

Since 2017 OceanCare has been part of this global coalition working to free the environment of plastic pollution caused by single-use plastics.

Since 2017, OceanCare has been supporting the efforts to protect the Fonsalía region in Tenerife from the threats posed by a port project.

In 2020, OceanCare joined forces with Dr Claire Petros to found the international alliance for the rescue and medical care of injured sea turtles.
