Siri Schubert loves to express important issues in pictures and words. She did just that as a Silicon Valley correspondent for the German Handelsblatt, in documentary films for American Public Television (PBS Frontline) and as a lecturer at the University of California at Berkeley. She has been active for several years as an author and media consultant. Her articles have appeared in the New York Times and in «International Politics and Scientific American Mind», among other publications.
As a water sports enthusiast, she has paddled 53 kilometres across the open ocean from the Hawaiian island of Molokai to Oahu several times and had the privilege of seeing sea turtles, dolphins and a tiger shark. Her volunteer work with OceanCare’s partner Alnitak has strengthened her resolve to work even harder than before to protect the oceans and their inhabitants.
At OceanCare, she has been supporting media work on selected projects since November 2021, most recently on the topic of deep-sea mining. Her particular focus is on the reduction of noise in the oceans and the establishment of marine conservation areas.
