G. Daniel Audrey Toviho is an emerging aquatic wildlife conservation specialist dedicated to advancing sustainable development in West Africa. He holds a Master of Science in Inland and Coastal Fisheries Management from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria, funded by the prestigious German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) scholarship.
His professional journey reflects a strong commitment to aquatic biodiversity conservation and community-based environmental education. G. Daniel Audrey Toviho began his career as a research assistant at the Laboratory of Research in Aquaculture and Aquatic Ecotoxicology (LaRAEAq) and later served as Project Coordinator with APASAT NGO, where he led initiatives promoting hippopotamus and monkey conservation and delivered environmental education programs in local schools.
Following his master’s degree, he joined the Benin Environment and Education Society (BEES NGO), where he now serves as an Aquatic Wildlife Research Consultant. At BEES, he contributed to several key environmental projects, notably leading an ethnoichthyological study on rays and sharks along the Benin coast, enhancing local understanding of traditional ecological knowledge and its relevance to marine conservation.
2025, G. Daniel Audrey Toviho joined OceanCare as a Researcher on Rays and Sharks, where he is actively involved in monitoring and identifying elasmobranch species along Benin’s coastline. His work with OceanCare focuses on assessing species diversity, mapping critical habitats, and supporting strategies for the sustainable management and protection of marine wildlife in the Gulf of Guinea.
