Reduce: Beat the microbead
International campaign against microplastics in cosmetic products
Many cosmetic products still contain microplastic particles, even though the producers could gain the desired effect by using natural substances. More than 60 organisations, including OceanCare, formed the international campaign “Beat the Microbead” to fight this pollutant. A smartphone app helps consumers to check ingredients of cosmetics and to choose products that do not contain microplastics. In 2015 product information for Switzerland has been added to the app.
