I have learned that the dugong population in the Southern Red Sea will be at risk if no regulations are beeing introduced. I understand that Marsa Abu Dabab is one of the most important region for tourists, especially due to the presence of the dugong. These faszinating marine mammals are attracting divers and snorkellers form the world over.

I recommend that special caution is applied in order to protect this fragile dugong poulation and endorse the Marsa Abu Dabab Marsa Alam Management Plan Suggestions by Yvonne Baldinini (scientist, leader of watersportscenter, Hotel Equinox, El Nabaa) and Barbara Maria Fortunati (bilogist, Orca Diving Center responsible, Marsa Abu Dabab) which Mr. Amr Ali, the Director of HEPCA, has recently presented to you.

I welcome this initiative and encourage you to take the necessary measures to conserve this very precious nature reserve and heritage. Thank you for your attention and serious consideration.
